Torpoint's

First Christmas Meal

25th December 2011

Sitting down for the Christmas Meal

The First Christmas Meal at Cornerstone church Torpoint for people who would be alone at this special time was a huge success and everyone who attended, 30 people in all thoroughly enjoyed themselves, including the helpers. We started with Tea or Coffee at around 12.30, although many had arrived earlier. It was then a 3-course meal: Leek & Potato Soup (yummy, yummy!) then on to a full turkey main course, then a sweet with a choice of Christmas pudding, Trifle, Pavlov with a choice of toppings, custard cream of clotted cream and finally fished off with after - eight mints. On the tables were a selection of drinks.

After negotiating all this we had a time of just sitting and talking and then Rev. Alison Richardson our Minister played and we sang carols. At around 3 p.m. we gave out prizes to the winners of a couple of games we had and a small raffle. Then they all received a small present to take home with them plus a piece of Christmas Cake, a mince pie and a cracker.

It was all FREE and that was due to so many of you who gave in so many ways. Without the help and generosity of so many, this would not have been possible. A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who contributed or helped in any way. To see the joy and happiness on the faces of these people made it all worth all the effort, and we hope it showed God's love coming from the Church.

Yours in Christ
